Source types and limits
Check upload sizes, processing status, and retention before adding files.

Supported files and limits
Use these effective size limits to avoid a file uploading successfully but failing during processing.

PowerPoint and email files are not supported directly. Export a presentation to PDF. Very long documents can be truncated; check the document's processing information.
Processing status
Pending means queued. Processing means extraction and indexing are underway. Ready means searchable. Failed means the document could not be processed; read its reason before retrying.
Quotas and credits
Document ingestion uses AI credits as well as monthly ingestion and transcription allowances. The public Pro configuration includes 500 MB of ingestion and 120 minutes of transcription per month. Your account's limit message is the source for any source-count or connection cap.
Deleting a source can free a source slot. It does not refund credits or reset monthly ingestion. Billing and credits explains renewal and daily ceilings. Older account entitlements can differ.
Add a custom metric source
For an API you already use, select Add custom metric in Data Sources.
- Enter a Name, such as
monthly_sales, and the API's Base URL. - Set Field path to the numeric value in its response. For example,
observations.0.valueselects the first observation's value. Enter its Unit, such as%orUSD. - If authentication is required, enter the API's Auth reference and API key / secret in this form. Keep credentials out of Research chat.
- Select Add source and check that the source appears in the list. If an error appears, correct the named field and retry.
This saves a metric source; it does not create an alert or prove a successful data fetch. There is no separate test action in this form. Custom metrics are separate from searchable documents; do not assume a saved source is automatically used in a screener.
Deletion and media retention
Source deletion permanently removes its documents and search content. Deleting a connection also removes its cached material.

Transcripts stay searchable while the document remains. YouTube ingestion stores only a transcript. Keep independent copies of recordings you need to retain.
